Originaly from Manchester, Matt has performed all over the UK and internationally for over 20 years. His love of magic began at an early age when an accident at the age of 9 forced him to be off of school in a plaster for quite some time!
“During this time I didn;t really get school work as such, and someone gave me a magic set. I remember learning tricks more than learning any of my schoo work!”
By the time Matt had reached his twenties he wanted to sart performing professionally, unfortunately he didnt have much in the way of experience and started performing at childrens parties and care homes, progessing into small working mens clubs.
“Ah working mens clubs (ha ha) Thats where you learnt your craft and how to toughen up. I had aways bveen a massive fan of comedy acts such as Cannon & Ball etc who also began in the clubs and you have to learn fast and think on your feet to deal with the heckles!
” I couldn’t get a break!! I would meet with a shows producer and they would ask Whats your experience of summer shows? and I would say none, but how can I get the experience when I cant get into summer shows?. They would always tell me to come back when I had performed more! So i went away and at the time I was walking around Blackpool knocking on hotels doors doing a quick trick amd then asking for a gig, normally getting paid around £15. Then I hit the idea of putting on my own summer show! …”
And that did the trick as they say. Matt put on a show called Magic Beach laughter funded by himself, produced and directed by him and starring him! The following year Matt appeared in a summer season with Keith Harris and the rest as they say was history. Matt went on to star in numerous Summer shows and pantomimes, then in 2010 starred on his own TV show “Street Magic TV” a channel 5 show “Magic tricks go wrong£ then followed. In 2013 Matt began a semi residency show in Las Vegas as well as perfoming all over the UK with the newly formed show “Matt Grindleys Magique”
The show goes from strength to strength and has won many awards for his technical skill and comedy.
